Practices are being encouraged to sign up to the central government PPE portal to order free equipment.
NHS England’s latest bulletin to primary care explains that the PPE portal will be the ‘primary source of free COVID-19 PPE (including flu vaccination requirements)’.
It also notes that order limits have been expanded to allow practices to buy in more stock at a time.
It was announced in a previous bulletin that practices would now be provided with free PPE, along with social care. And this week the Department of Health and Social Care released its PPE strategy, which promised to supply medical-grade PPE to practices until March 2021.
Practices should register and access the portal using NHS registered email, and call the customer service team on 0800 876 6802 with any questions.
If there is ‘severe disruption’ to distribution, practices should in the first instance get in contact with their local authority or Local Resilience Forum (LRF) – a government website will shortly be published with the local authority/LRF contact details. If this route is not possible practices should contact the National Supply Distribution Response (NSDR) service for urgent supplies.
Further information on the portal supply can be found on the DHSC guidance page.
